Urban Mobility
Big cities around the world are dealing with increased traffic congestion and pollution, especially from vehicles such as private tour buses and minivans. Many European capitals, as well as outside Europe, have implemented measures to restrict the entry of such vehicles into their city centers. These measures include entry fees (congestion charges), special permits or indications (e.g. low emission), ring/rotation systems, and a ban on heavy buses in the historical city center. At the same time, provided solutions include parking spaces outside the dense urban core (often with public transport connections) and special parking passes for buses. These policies aim to reduce traffic congestion and pollution in city centers, improve road safety for pedestrians and cyclists, and encourage the use of sustainable transport. This report presents examples from major European capitals, as well as some from other regions, analyzing the measures implemented and the adopted parking solutions.
